8th Annual Northern Michigan Golf Trip (2006) – Post Trip Summary

The 2006 trip to Gaylord provided another fun golf weekend.  We had near perfect golf weather, with primarily sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 80’s.  We did have a bit of rain on Saturday afternoon (same happened in 2005), but it seemed to help cool us off.  The courses and lodging this year were great.

Total Score Predictions and Results:

(-1) Tony - (Predicted 397, Shot 396) – Some guys will do anything for $100!

(-4) Dave - (Predicted 363, Shot 359) – As always, cheated some how!

(-6) Jeff - (Predicted 399, Shot 393) – It must be that controversial brush tee!

(6) Bob F - (Predicted 370, Shot 376) – Bob claims again that he did not use the Freeman Footwedge.  Any believers?  (Didn’t think so.)

(-17) Monroe - (Predicted 450, Shot 433) – He didn’t join the PGA last year, but next year is looking up.

(-26) Paul S - (Predicted 378, Shot 352) – Much better than last year’s pipe dream prediction and performance.

(-34) Stu - (Predicted 363, Shot 329) – Same old !#$% here.

(34) Brian - (Predicted 400, Shot 434) – Not sure what to say about the new guy.

(34) Randy - (Predicted 401, Shot 435) – And he never fell out of any golf carts during the weekend.

Stats:

There were 153 pars, 13 birdies and 0 Eagles (no surprise) during the weekend.

Lowest Rounds (good for bragging rights):

Stu - 2 (Marsh Ridge with an 80 and The Pines with a 79)

Paul S. - 1 (The Loon with an 80)

Summary (and derogatory comments):

Highest Payout(s): The big bread winner this year was Tony, distantly followed by Stu.

Highest Round(s): Bob S. on Elk Ridge, The Loon and The Pines.  But the Grand Daddy of them all was Jay with a 126 at Marsh Ridge.

Most Alcohol Consumed: Everyone that closed the bar on Friday night!

Most Injured: I don’t remember any injuries this year.  Were there some that I missed?  Maybe a few bad hangovers?

Loudest Snorer: Didn’t hear many complaints about snoring this year.  But Dave did report Bob F. was talking in his sleep about midgets and gerbils.

Farthest Club Throw: Jay (the winner 8 years in a row now).  A new distance record was probably set with this year’s throw.  It was an Olympic type performance.

Most Balls Lost: Anybody care to fess up?

The Loudest "!#$%!", I mean "fore":  It was a pretty quiet weekend.  Are we maybe getting too old to swear?

Most Notable Performance (or lack of):  Jay.  A 126 at Marsh Ridge?!?!?  What the !#$%?

Practice up for 2007!
